With controlchat, it has never been easier or more convenient to control your cellphone account. By selecting one of the controlchat package options, a pre-defined amount will be credited to your cellphone account monthly.

Cell C FAQ's

  1. Airtime is automatically loaded on the 15th of the month.
  1. Once you've exhausted your monthly call time, you can top up using Cell C chat cards, recharge vouchers or steadychat vouchers at any time.
  1. Dial *101# (send), or phone 141 from your cellphone to get your balance.
  1. Dial *111*insert the number you would like to contact# and push the call button. A message will appear on your cellphone telling you how many Please call me backs you have left.

  1. Dial 144 and follow the voice prompts.
  1. Dial 144 from your Cell C cellphone and follow the voice prompts.
  2. From a non Cell C phone dial 08414 #< your password># (Note: the default password is 1234).
  3. Unheard messages are kept for 7 days and heard messages can be saved for 2 days.
  1. Dial 140 from your Cell C sim card and follow the voice prompts to change the tariff plans to Per Second billing.
  1. Occasionally the network provider does not activate the free SMS bundle. If this happens, please contact us on cellphones@spicephone.co.za or on (011) 123 4567 with your cell phone number and we will attend to this immediately.
  1. No problem. Unused minutes are carried forward to the next month, and added to your new included minutes.
  1. You can accumulate a maximum airtime balance equal to three times your controlchat monthly credit amount (i.e. if you purchase the Control Chat 100 where you get R115 of value, you can carry over a maximum value of R345) Note: the rollover amount excludes any recharges done by you.

  1. Dial 140 from your cellphone as a free call, or 084 140 from a fixed line or other cellphone at applicable rates.
  1. With Cell C's new Friends and Family service you can now select not 4 but 7 of your most frequently dialled numbers to receive our discounted Friends and Family rates. So you will be saving money every time you call these numbers.
  2. Before you can start chatting with your Friends & Family, you have to activate this service by dialling 142 and following the voice prompts. Loading your Friends & Family numbers for the first time will be free.
  3. New Friends and Family allows you to get up to 17% discount on every call you make to seven numbers of your choice PLUS if any of those numbers are also Cell C you pay a flat rate of only 75c per minute off peak and R1.50 during peak time.
  4. Your Friends & Family numbers can be changed anytime using your cellphone, Dial 142 and a Customer Care consultant will assist you. You are entitled to seven free changes per month while subsequent changes in the same month will be charged at R15 per change.
  5. What is roaming on the Vodacom network for me? By roaming on the Vodacom network a Cell C customer can make and receive voice calls, send and receive data, or access other services when travelling outside the Cell C geographical coverage area. Cell C customers will use Vodacom capacity mostly in rural areas, as Cell C expands its network in major metropolitan areas.
